How To Make A Boutonniere

You’ll need:

• Assorted buttons
• Crafting or flower wire
• Hemp or ribbon
• Dowel
• Mod Podge glue
• E6000
• Safety pin (not shown)
• Flat nose pliers
• Scissors
• Paintbrush

Instructions:

1. Choose buttons
2. Cut wire to approx. 5″
3. Fold wire in half
4. Thread wire through buttonholes
5. With flat nose pliers, twist ends of wire at the back until tight
6. Repeat steps 1-5 two more times
7. Take dowel, and cut to 3″
8. Arrange and wrap wire ends of button flowers onto the end of dowel
9. Cut a piece of wire roughly 7″
10. Fold in half
11. Shape into a leaf
12. Repeat steps 9-11
13. Arrange leaves behind flowers and wrap around dowel (I did this step later on, but thought afterwards I should have done it sooner)
14. Cover bottom half of dowel with Mod Podge
15. Cut a piece of hemp or ribbon long enough to cover dowel
16. Wrap string around dowel
17. Glue ends of string down
18. Glue safety pin onto the back
19. Wait to dry
20. And pin!
