5 Ways to Become a Morning Person

The thought of wanting to become a morning person might not appeal to everyone. Some people rush in the morning because they really want that extra 30 minutes of sleep and they know they can still make it to work on time. But, believe me, once you’re in the habit of waking up early you will hate the thought of rushing in the morning. Waking up earlier will give you a way better start to your day and keep you energized and positive throughout the whole week. We always think that free time starts at the end of the day, when you’re home from school or work. But, what you forget is that you also have free time in the morning.

Where it all starts: SUNDAY

If you sleep until 12PM on Saturdays and Sundays, its going to be a problem getting to sleep come Sunday night. So… in order to avoid that insomnia on Sunday nights, do yourself a favor and set an alarm even on the weekends. No, not for 7:30AM, but if you wake yourself up a bit earlier (around 10AM) you will have a better sleep Sunday night.

Additional tip if you can’t fall asleep without the sound of a TV: Put on a show on your laptop that you’ve already seen, so that you don’t need to pay attention to it. Put your computer on the ground so that you’re not looking at it either.

WAKEUP

Monday mornings are the worst – you’re either waking up for school or work, which none of us ever want to go to. You should figure out what time you have to be somewhere, how long it takes you to get there, and then make sure you’re up 1 hour before you have to be on the road. This will give you a full hour to do every thing you need in the morning. What I recommend is finding a morning routine that works for you – don’t do something different every morning. You will soon figure out how long every step takes you and how much time you need or want.

Additional tip: keep your blinds open a little bit so that the morning sunlight helps wake you up.

WASH UP

Washing up should be the first thing you do (besides NOT snoozing), because it wakes you up. Brush your teeth and wash your face (or shower if you’re a morning shower person).

BREAKFAST

Make yourself a good breakfast full of protein instead of grabbing a granola bar on your way out. Think about what you want the night before so that you can get excited for it and prep your ingrediants (make sure you have everything you need). Sit down in your pyjamas, make yourself coffee, and eat your breakfast in peace. This is the perfect time to catch up on all your texts and social media instead of doing it lying in bed. Or, you can even squeeze in a half hour show you missed last night.

GETTING DRESSED

Pick out your outfit the night before so you don’t stress yourself out in the morning. The last thing you want to do is put on a million outfits and get frustrated. If you wear makeup and do your hair, now is the time to get yourself looking good.
